The last of the propeller driving fighters. The A-1E Skyraider was almost given up as a close air support fighter after the Korean conflict but the Air Force saw it as an excellent plane that could stay up for long periods of time and carry massive ordinance to support troops on the ground and cover helicopter extractions of downed pilots and provide cover fire.
The next plane is the B-26K or the A-26 Counter Invader. Designed during WW2 and served again in Korea it was again called to duty during Vietnam after a retrofit to make it stronger and more tolerant to enemy fire. it was mostly used to strafe and bomb the Ho Chi Minh trail, basicaly it ruled the night.
