A Little Italian Anyone?

The lone WW2 Italian fighter in the WW2 gallery, the Macchi MC.200 “Saetta” aka. Lightning. The one pictured was captured at the Benghazi airfield in Lybia just after the battle of El Alamain. It was shipped back to the U.S. and put on tour to raise War Bonds. In 1986 it made its way to the museum with its original markings after an excellent restoration in Italy.
