My life in the last 96 hours

Well this will be a bit long to explain. Last friday I had a DOT (Department of Transportation) physical in Green Bay Wisconsin where I learned I have a high blood sugar content which negated my medical card which I need to drive, so I was stuck in GB and had to get home to Tennessee so I can hook up with a doctor and get my “Diabetes” in check so I can pass the DOT physical which I should be able to do in a couple of weeks..hopefully…things are gonna change pretty quick. Its not the end of the world, I have a doctors appointment on this coming friday and I have 2 weeks of paid vacation coming so I finally get to take one at the Ellis ranch and resort. ..Back to Green Bay.. After being notified by my company that I needed to get checked out I rented a car and Saturday morning drove the 844 miles home in about 14 hours with all my stuff from the truck in a very nice Toyota Camery which got amazing mileage, about 38mpg on the highway. Well I got home Saturday night and got setteled in Sunday morning for my extended home time which I’m looking forward to, to be honest I need a vacation. I spent today with my camera out back photographing birds and wildflowers, helped a bit planting Blackberry bushes and the new flowers for the folks english garden, friday I’ll get a couple of gnomes for the garden and price a gazing ball and stand ( mom really wants one of those). Well till I get back on the road I’ll keep busy taking pics and doing some running around with the folks, have some chinese and get some pics for the upcoming Sunday Stills. Oh yeah yesterday we went to a whole earth grocery store and I did pick up some interesting new teas…more on that later. I’ll leave ya’ll with my favorite pic from today, Cedar Waxwings, about 25 just in this pic alone, and we have the feeding frenzy in the holly tree and some of the boys grooming themselves in the sun..:-)

  1. shame about your bood sugar levels Ed, hopefully you can get that all under control
i’m sure everything will work out fine 🙂

enjoy your break, these photos are really beautiful
i love the happiness that you have capture in the little birds

  2. These are fantastic pictures, Ed. I especially like the 2nd one. I hope you get your blood sugars in check, Ed. In the meantime, enjoy your vacation with the folks.

  3. So nice having Ed home for awhile, even if he has to live on the screened in porch!! I’ll still fix his favorites, just give him less. We are hoping all goes well with his Dr. appt. Friday. 🙂

  4. I can imagine that the long hours on the road wreak havoc with you eating habits and blood sugar levels. If you don’t already use sugar substitutes, you might like Agave syrup which has a low glycemic index, its great in tea and can be used any where you use sugar.

  5. Love the photo of the wax wings…. No, worries Ed, can be easily controlled with diet and exercise, sounds silly but add Cinnamon to your diet. Good luck, enjoy the time with your mom and I look forward to seeing more photos.

  6. Beautiful little birds. I’m sure a short vacation would be nice. Hopefully you get things back in working order soon. Take care 😉

  7. Hope you get the diabetes thing figured out… more Waffle House for you Mister 😉 If you’re getting a gazing ball…….pay the extra money and get a metal one….I had three glass ones given to me and they either got hailed on or blew off the stand and broken. Here’s to better days 🙂 🙂 🙂

  8. Wow! That 3rd photo takes my breath away. Such gorgeous birds and wonderful photography.

That’s too bad about the high blood sugar situation. But at least you are finding out about in time to do something about it before it gets worse, right?
And you get to be home and get some much needed rest and a visit with family.
I use Stevia as a sugar substitute because it’s all natural and not chemical and you only need a tiny bit to sweeten anything. I use it in my tea as I do like to sweeten my hot tea and tend to drink tea most of the day. Some people say it has a slight hint of licorice flavor but I didn’t notice it anymore after I used Stevia for a few days.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to reading about the new teas you discovered at Whole Foods (one of my favorite food stores!)

  9. That sounds like a nuisance you really didn’t need. Enjoy yourself on a well deserved break.
I have never seen a cedar waxwing – imagine so many in one spot! – these pics are wonderful

  10. I have never seen more than three or four one time in our sarvis tree years ago. Very beauitful bird. Thanks for the photos. Good luck with your health problem.

  11. Sorry to hear about your health problems. When I get home from vacation I will email you some info that will help with your issues.
Love, love love all your pics!

  12. Just now catching up with your health situation–we’ve been in our own dilemma with drought, a dry well, and wildfires around us–but wanted to say I hope you are able to get some rest and get a handle on your health. I know your folks are going to take good care of you. The Cedar Waxwings photo is amazingly beautiful!
