So Janice said she liked my water shots, well you asked for it and now you get it…. 3 days of water shots..:-))

I took these last Friday, it rained most of the day and really got the creeks and rivers going like crazy, and I got a chance to use my Light Craft Workshop Fader ND filter mkII. Which is a dialable ND filter that goes from 2-8 stops in the same filter, its a great addition to my bag for water shots..

As I mentioned earlier it rained all morning so how do I keep my camera dry??? The Storm Jacket. This is a very cool addition to my camera bag, they come in different sizes for different lenses. I have a short one for my D8O and macro lens and an XL for the long lens and they work great…

Per my moms request here are some Trilliums for this week. She wanted to see some pics so she can paint them and she wanted to see some open trilliums. I find them on the Tellico River in Tennessee in mid April, hopefully on my next visit home next month I can get some new ones..:-)

I spent Friday on the river and enjoying the peace and quiet of the forest, and the sounds of the river. It truely soothes the soul………

Teatime Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! Well with the exception of some more water shots from my trip home todays tea is pretty much a letdown. I have to say I’m not a fan of Twinnings Ceylon Orange Pekoe, its pretty bland. I have better Orange Pekoe from commercial restaraunts, and plain Black Ceylon Tea is really good, I think Twinnings is just trying to expand their line of products, next thing you know they will have Darjeeling Blackcurrent. Did you know Ceylon is now Sri Lanka? They got their independence in 1972 so why is the tea not called Sri Lanka blend? Its a moot point, it must sell otherwise why blend it.

I’m still working on a review of the Lightcraft Filter I’m now using for my water shots I need to get some pics of the filter but I’ve been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. So here are a couple more shots using this really cool filter..:-)

Water,Water, Everywhere

Posted in Nikon D80, Photography, Sigma 18-200mm with tags , , , , , on February 16, 2012 by Ed

I finally got to get some time on the river yesterday and got to play with my new filter. This little beauty is the Light Craft variable neutral density filter from 2-8 stops and is perfection for bluring motion, especially water. I’ll do a full post on the filter soon but till then I hope ya’ll don’t get bored with water sports. I shot a couple hundred pics and I’ll start off with a few decent shots and work my way through the rest. Here are the first ones, I’m still working out the kinks and getting used to dialing in the proper stop for the different light situations..

Sitting by the River..

Posted in Black and White, Nikon D80, Photography, Sigma 18-200mm with tags , , , , on December 8, 2011 by Ed

To be more precice I was sitting by the river in a pickup truck staying dry, it rained all day Tuesday and I did’nt need to get sick. Luckily the river runs right next to road and you can still get some great shots. For me its mostly just getting out and cruzing on the forest roads and just enjoying nature..:-)

First off Happy New Year!!! Its been a great 2011 for my photography but some pics stood out in my mind. Last March and April were great for spring wildflowers and some cool guests at my folks house in Tennessee, the Waxwings made a stop and gorged themselves on berries. I also got some nice kayaker shots on the Tellico River and found some wild Crokuses,Bluebells and Trilliums. Since winter is deciding to stay away this year maybe we will have an early spring and I can get some more wildflower shots..:-))

Toilet Review Tuesday: Into the Wild

Posted in Photography, Toilet Review Tuesdays with tags , , on November 30, 2010 by Ed

I call this into the wild because if you have ever used one of these its like going native and you take your life in your own hands upon entering one of these primitave comodes. I found three in a pulloff on the Tellico River Sunday afternoon and thought what luck, well as luck would have it there was no paper in any of the pictured porta potties and as I looked around I was glad there was none to be found, they needed sanitizing, paper and alot of air fresheners. I bout gagged when I opened the door. Why can’t people be a bit humane and not act like savages when using them, I felt like digging a cathole and just going in the forest, but alas there was no paper to be had and I was fresh out of leaves… Luckily I found an inproved restroom aways down the road but the forest service due to budget cuts did’nt have any money or manpower to resupply the TP rolls or some ahole stole the TP, anyway I made do with a few napkins and I was on my way… Just another day of photography on the river, next time I’m taking my own TP…:-)
