I’m taking a couple of days off to visit my favorite zoo in the country, the Columbus Zoo in Columbus Ohio. To show how much I love this zoo I live in Tennessee and I have a membership to a zoo in Ohio, I figure why not. They are busy this week putting up x-mas lights at the zoo and as I sit in the entrance at 3 a.m I can see the lights on in the zoo and wish I could get in before sunup and get some pics, it looks really cool. I spent the day yesterday wandering around the zoo watching everything and taking lots of pics, the Lions were chuffing and the Gibbons were howling and causing a ruckus. the babies are growing up too fast and the baby elephant is getting really big, my favorite baby gibbon is getting big too but still clings to his mom like a newborn. Today I’ll try for some pics of the Gorillas and Bonobos, and work on my pics for Sunday Stills. Yesterday was more of a scouting mission, recon if you will, to see how the cloudy grey skies will effect my pics for today and I found if I keep the sky out of the pics the cloudy conditions act as a difuser and there is not much glare. So as I wander around on day two I hope the quality of my pics will be better and I think I may work on some homosapien pics as well. I can’t wait for 9 a.m. when they open..:-))

So I’m sitting in one of my favorite places to have lunch, Steak-n-Shake trying to have a nice steakburger fries and a bowl of their famous chili and was rudely interupted by a pesky insect that would not leave me alone!!! Guess who???
Yep you guessed right…


Needless to say I got some strange looks from the other patrons…:-))

I admit it, since I’m a coin collector this one was stacked( no pun intended) in my favor. But I wanted to see what other countrys money looks like, I’ve been all arounf the world and never kept any of the currency from their countries. Its a bummer I did’nt think of it when I was home because I have an extensive ancient coin collection of roman,greek and british coins… Anyway here is what I have to work with on hand…:-)

Its funny how you find ols coins in your change, these are both silver, the dime is a mercury dime and the quarter is a silver quarter from 1962.

Before changing the penny to the current one we had wheat back pennies in the 20’s

And finally our attempt at dollar coins, the first was the Susan B. Anthony in the late 70’s then we went on to the Sacajawea ( a native american who hepled guide Lewis and Clark on their discovery of the western U.S.) dollar, and now the mint is on a presidential dollar kick, the latest is Polk our 11th president..

Well the weekend is upon us once more and it makes ni difference to me since I’m on my way back to Pennsylvania. That is when I get my truck fixed, luckily I’m in St.Louis and I have a good internet connection so I can check my e-mail and do a quick post. I spent some time taking some coin pics for Sunday last night and should have some interesting shots. I took the following pics last month in Iowa in a small town I can’t even remember the name of..:-)

Just a quick post to let ya’ll know I’m still around, its been one heck of a week and its not over. I’m on my way back to Pennsylvania for Saturday, then who knows. I just hope I’m somewhere on Sunday so I can post..:-))

Sorry for being absent the last couple of days, unfortunatly I had no internet for my wireless and I really hav’nt picked up my camera since last Saturday. I guess I’m in a photofunk and since I’ve been driving my arse off since Sunday night I’m just beat. I’m sitting just north of Milwaukee Wisconsin and its trying to snow, at least thats a positive. I’ll try to take some interesting pics in the next couple of days, I’m thinking of switching my camera to B&W for the next month and just shooting everything in B&W.. Well my eyelids feel like they have sandpaper in them and I need to get some rest.
