A Rare Saturday Post: Sandhill Cranes and Ibis

I usually don’t post Saturday posts but yesterday in Florida I had an unexpected suprise, 2 Sandhill Cranes right beside the road! I parked on the shoulder expecting them to take off but they stayed and I grabbed the camera and tried to get closer, they still did’nt move. I got within 3 feet of them as they just posed and preened in the morning sun, it was unreal. I stayed a respectful distance and happily clicked away….

So there I was feeling all warm and fuzzy and moving down the road through the business park when I spotted a gaggle of Ibisis looking for breakfast, BONUS! I slowed the truck down to a stop and out came the Nikon, I only had to use the 18-200mm lens to get the shots. It was a good bird morning.

I also got 4 new flowering bushes and a new flower. Florida is pretty cool..:-)

  5. Delightful!

  6. Great shots….I see them fly overhead in the fall but they never land here.

  7. Wonderful shots! Where in Florida were you? Maybe one day you’ll get close enough that we can say hello!

  8. I so love sandhill cranes. They cover such a large area of the USA, so many folks can experience them. I hope your pictures allow others to recognize them and their beauty.
