The things I do for Bird Pics….
If I thought Saturday was a good day with the wildflowers in Texas Sunday turned out to be even better in Louisiana. As it happened I stopped at this nice little truckstop aboout 30 miles east of Lake Charles and decided to take my break when I noticed all these white spots in the field next to the truckstop. I thought at first they were herons but after I got out the long lens I discovered they were Ibis and not just a scattering of white ones, there were hundreds of young ones too and they were brown and of course there was a scattering of herons too. I tried for a few long range shots from the truck but alas it was a bit too far for good shots so I packed up the camera and the tripod and took off across an old rice field in search of some good shots. Soon I discovered the ground was soggy and wet due to the rice field with raised rows which had not been planted yet but retain the water year round this was a bit of a problem for quietly stalking birds, move a few feet set up and wait then move a bit closer, I manages to get to about 75 yards from the main gathering before they got nervous and I didn’t chance getting any closer, I was close enough..:-)

I ended up with about 300 pics from this outing and soaked and muddied boots but it was well worth it. Today I’m broke down in a rest area in Florida waiting patiently waiting for a tow truck..Ho Hum..Cie la vie..:-))

Well at least you got some great shot to view while you get your truck fixed. It is probably not a bad thing to be broken down in Florida…Ha! Take some more pictures! They are great!

I’m practicing the bird photo thing…they are very careful about people like us sneaking up on them.
Great photos!
