Happy Turkey Day!!
Posted in Birds, Daily musings, Photography with tags Thanksgiving, turkeys on November 26, 2009 by EdDid you know that Benjamin Franklin wanted the humble turkey to be the national bird and not the eagle???
Now once a year the president grants a pardon to one lucky bird and lets two border patrol guards rot in prison for doing their job, and I bet there are a few unlucky birds being stuffed in the whitehouse kitchens this day, not so lucky birds. And how did we come to have turkey as the standard meat at thanksgiving? I’m sure when the native americans came to that first feast they brought venison tartar and the rightious pilgrims ate it up and a few years later stole their land and moved them farther west for their troubles…ACK!!! Anyway, enjoy this day with your families, I’m enjoying a nice chicken fried steak and eggs this morning. Happy Thanksgiving to all my blogger buddies across the world…:-)

Posted in Birds, Macro, Macro Monday, Photography, Zoos with tags Flamingos, Macro Monday, Macro Photography on November 23, 2009 by EdI hust could’nt resist some more flamingo pics, there is something about their beedy little eyes staring back at you while they attempt to nap. First closed, then the eye opens and they give you a dirty look…
The first is a youngster who is just starting to get his colours, and the second it the brighter pink adult.
Have a great week…Ed

Sunday Stills: Horses

Posted in Daily musings, Mindless Dribble, Mindless Rants with tags Rants, Starbucks on November 20, 2009 by EdSorry, the last couple of the days have been run, run, run…
And its not over yet, I guess this is a good thing, the economy is on the rise and there is lots of freight to get mover and for my line of work this is a good thing.
Anyway, I learned something yesterday, Starbucks SUCKS!!! I actually paid $4.79 for a large peppermint mocha, sorry a Venti, why can’t they just call them Small, Medium and Large. they use spanish for their medium and call it a grande and Italian for a large and call it a Venti. So when I ordered my overprices cup of joe I asked for a large and the pretentious twit behind the counter, sorry, barista (another stupid name) said they had a Venti not a large, I asked what the difference was and he said nothing so I asked for a large and that seemed to tick him off and of course I just smiled.
Well after waiting for 5 minutes for my supposed excellent mocha I got a watered down mocha with a couple of shots of peppermint flavoring and no whipped cream on top, that was extra. I know not all people who drink overpriced coffee are twits but the ones in line this day looked like twits, businessmen it suits, urban mommies with their sparkley cell phones and Puma tennis shoes pushing their 2 passenger urban assault vehicles.
O.K I’m getting off track here, my point is I realized as I walked away with my cup of dissapointment I noticed a Burger King next door and thought, they have coffee in there and its only $1.00 and not bad to boot. Lesson learned, at least Panera does not overprice their coffee and its all you can drink with free Wi-Fi, not to mention they have outstanding Chicken and wild rice soup and Bagels…:-))
p.s sorry for any typos, my editor Dibear is in Oakridge today at a show with my dad, good luck today Chuck..:-))
See ya’ll tomorrow….Ed
