Dallas Zoo pt.2 (Finally)
Posted in Birds, Daily musings, Photography, wildlife with tags Dallas Zoo on August 25, 2009 by EdFinally a chance to do my second post for my trip to the Dallas Zoo last week. So, I’m standing at the Lemur enclosure and I hear a little boy ask his mommy why the lemurs are not dancing like in the movie Madagascar? As I stiffle a laugh I look down to see the little snotdragon with his finger buried up to the second knuckle in his nose digging for salty treats..YECHHHH!!! His mom tells him to stop picking his nose but he just keeps on diggin’ and I vacate the area before I open my big mouth. As I have said before I love to visit zoos, not just for the animals but also for the homosapiens, people intrigue me just as much, and kids are hysterical, along with the haggered and tired moms with their urban assault strollers with more gear hanging off of them than a military Hummer. But all in all I do enjoy the quiet zoos early in the morning when they first open and avoid them on weekends and holidays like the plague. Well enough of my mindless drivel and off to some pics which is what most of you folks come here to see….:-)))

As a side note most of the cool animals were inside or hiding in the shade so I had to make the best of a decent situation..:-)
Have a great day…Ed

My Day at the Dallas Zoo Pt.1
Posted in Daily musings, Photography, Zoos, wildlife with tags animals, Dallas Zoo, Photography on August 20, 2009 by EdI had a blast yesterday at the Dallas Zoo. The temp was in the high 90’s by the time I left and was totally exhausted and probably dehydrated even thought I had 4 bottles of water at $2.00 each but worth it. Most animals were active early because it was breakfast, the primates decided to stay in the shade and that is a pain in the butt for photography. Tha Dallas Zoo is set into a series of gullies and you are constantly walking up and down, good for a workout, not so good for the sandle clad feet of most moms there pulling their wagons and strollers. Speaking of which, I’m a people watcher and at zoos I find the humans mort entertaining than the animals, more on that later, maybe tomorrow. So I’ll stop pratteling on and get to the pics……

This is the first canyon you cross and the original bridge built in the 1940’s

A lumbering giant, the Endangered Black Rhino.

Jerry the Giraffe, Toys’R'Us anyone???

The lowland Tapir, a tasty South American treat.

Peekaboo!

The Meercat, this fella was either watching clouds or Aircraft, I could’nt be sure, but fun to watch.

Breaksast time for the chimps.
Tomorrow I’ll do some birds and reptiles and maybe I’ll do a post on the Ghosts of the Bayou!
Have a great day….Ed

Life is a series of…..
Posted in Daily musings, Photography with tags daily thoughts, sunrise, Sunset on August 18, 2009 by EdI was thinking last night that life is just a series of events, either relationships, work related, or in my case a series of sunrises and sunsets. Each one just leads into another and makes me realize just how lucky I am to be on the planet. my life also is a series of posts and each one leads into another and I look forward to and sometimes strain to find things to write about, its easy just to post pics but to actually find something interesting to write about is sometimes stressful after an uneventful day, but I on occasion do find things to write about, after all this is Thoughts from the road. So with this said here is a sunrise from Van Horn Texas and then a sunset from the vicinity of Odessa Texas.
Have a great day…Ed
Sunrise in Van Horn Texas.

Sunset in Odessa Texas.
