Posted in Birds, Photography, Sunday Stills with tags nuts, Sunday Stills on July 19, 2009 by EdA quick moon shot
Posted in Daily musings, Photography with tags moon on July 18, 2009 by EdI’ve been super busy and yesterday I got my new laptop and am still working the bugs out of it. Of course not having an internet connection yesterday was a pain in the butt. So, today I’ll work on transfering programs and try to get some pics ready for SS tomorrow and try to come up with next weeks challenge, I have a couple of ideas going through mind..
Well here is what I could get of the moon last night, it was cloudy so it made the shot kinda creepy.
See ya all tomorrow..

Two Guns
Posted in Daily musings, Photography with tags Two Guns Ghost Town on July 16, 2009 by EdOne of my favorite spur of the moment stops was last year in Arizona to check out Two Guns ghost town. Once a stop on route 66 and before that a site of a fight between cav troopers and apaches and then a stage stop, Two Guns finally dried up in the 1940’s when I-40 was built and the stop was bypassed for travellers opting for the more modern Flagstaff. From what I could tell it was a mid sized town with a gas station, a small store and a lodge of some sort and a couple small homes and a general privy. On an interesting note the gas station has a sort of zoo attraction behind it with chicken wire enclosures. So here a few pics of the town that I pulled from my web site.

Two Guns, the bridge was built in the 30’s to connect the lodge and the gas station in the upper right of the pic.

The General Store

I’m not sure what this was, any ideas?
A hallway in the lodge.

The chicken coop in the back of the lodge, just on the other side of the walkway there is a 75 foot drop off into the canyon.

One of the last residents of Two Guns, I hope ya enjoyed the brief tour.
Have a great day…Ed

Mindless Dribble, aka. a fly on the wall
Posted in Insects, Macro, Mindless Dribble with tags Insects, Mindless Dribble on July 14, 2009 by EdOnce again I overheard a conversation that made me want to bite my tongue. I was in line in my favorite store and heard a couple complaining that their weekend was ruined by rain, they were in the garden shop purchasing gardening supplies and were upset that the extra rain that would help their garden ruined their weekend gettaway to the Smokies. The first thing I thought was in another month they will probably complain its too dry and wish it would rain. I guess this goes along with people who eat in a Thai restaraunt and complain the food is too hot, or non-smokers who sit in the smoking section and complain about the smoke. O.K. I admit I’m a hypocrite at times and tend to say things at times and catch myself about 2 seconds after saying them and say to myself I’m an idiot for saying that, but I guess all in all its just human nature.
Hava great week…Ed

Skywatch Friday
Posted in Photography on July 10, 2009 by EdDriving through the Virginia darkness I had the familiar feeling of what I call a Lunar Distraction. As the clouds parted I realized it was a Full moon rising above the horizon and well, I had to stop..:-)
