Sunday Still

This weeks is a quickie, I toook this yesterday morning on my mom’s front porch, I’m off to Ft. Loudoun ( French-Indian War) to a re-enactment today, I’ll check out all the sites when I gewt home.

Grin and Bear it……

Yesterday was a fantastic day at Cades Cove National Park outside Townsend Tennessee. I rarely see Black Bears in the park but yesterday was a bearapalooza, I saw and photographed 6 of them. The one with the 2 tags in her ears is a problem bear, she like to raid the campgrounds and just be a pain in the butt. The park service has tried on two occasions to relocate he but she keeps coming back to the Cove.

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jig…..

Well after 45 days on the road I figure its time for an Ed break. So I’m back home in Tennessee for a few days of peace and quiet, no worries, just me and my cameras exploring my favorite place on earth. My river, my mountains and my favorite sunrises. time to clean the sensors, wipe down the lenses, and clear the memory cards, this kids going to do some major pic taking. Last time I was home spring was just beginning and the colors had not come in, this trip I’m totally stoked to get on the mountain and on the river. So, let the fun begin……..

Places I miss…

I was thinking of places I’ve been and I have to admit it I miss the desert southwest, the stillness, the only sounds are the insects buzzing and the wind. I need to get back there soon, maybe Moab or the Tuscon areas.
Either way would be nice.

Macro Monday & Memorial Day

I found these flowers on a bush at the Pilot TS in Bordentown New Jersey yesterday, the purple and yellow just stood out and I could’nt resist. Its also Memorial day today and take a minute and reflect on the troops who serve and gave their lives for our and other countries, and to the allies who also serve and sacrafice.
Also a happy Victoria Day to my buds up north in Canada.

Kinda kryptic, but its the nunber of Elliot Sadlers race car. Can you guess the sponsor? I was at the Sadler truckstop in Dunn North Carolina yesterday and had nothing to take pics of till I saw the car, not much, but it sated my OCD. This morning I’m in Barrington New Jersey, can anyone explain why New Jersey always smells???

Pet Peeves

i’ve been thinking about my biggest pet peeves while on the road tonight. I have an intolerance for tailgaters, both the ones who follow me and the trucks that ride the bumpers of the cars. My truck only goes 61 m.p.h and riding my butt will not make me go faster or save someone gas by drafting like some NASCAR driver. It just gets on my nerves, I’ve seen some horrendous accidents caused by tailgating and I don’t want to see another. The other thing is distracted drivers, either drinking and driving, eating, texting, aruging with kids or spouses, putting on makeup. reading papers, talking on the phone without a hands free device or working on a laptop, when you get behind the wheel folks need to realize they are responsible for not only the lives of their pasengers but the other people on the road they effect. I myself will cut conversations short when I feel it is too dangerous to talk, just ask Dibear, my mom. Anyway, I know this is a rant of sorts and not all poeple are dumbass drivers, I have been on the road for 14 years and have logged over a million safe miles and I did’nt get there by being stupid, of course now I have mentioned that I’ll probably get in a fender bender. Well, as we head into Memorial day weekend all I’m asking is to be safe, I’ve met some real cool folks through blogland and I would hate to hear anyone got hurt. Hava great weekend and show all your support to the fallen heros of our military and those of our allies.
